A headpin is a wire with a little nub (head) at one end. It looks like a long skinny nail. You'll need headpins to make many styles of earrings and for creating dangles. Headpins come in different gauges and lengths. A good all around headpin is a 2" headpin in either Gauge 22 or Gauge 24 as they work well for most projects.

Eyepins have a loop instead of a head at the end. You can make your own with wire or headpins (with the head cut off) but if you need to make a lot of dangles, eyepins will save you time. They will also provide a uniform look when using multiple eyepins for dangles on a project.
